Payroll Manager - Johannesburg

  • The candidate's main function would be to accurately manage and process the payrolls weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc.
  • Ensure all payroll-related functions are carried out efficiently by company policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Meet all statutory compliance requirements as dictated by various.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and complete preparation, reconciliation, and filing of all employee tax-related compliances.
Payroll:
  • Effective management of the payroll, compensation, deductions, taxes, and benefits department.
  • Responsible for overseeing the processing of all companies.
  • Liaise with the different company finance and operational management regarding reporting and payroll queries.
  • Ensure strict security, confidentiality, and non-disclosure of payrolls and its protocols are always maintained.
  • Responsible for facilitating between businesses and the offshore payroll function.
  • Release all payroll via Sage and H2H SCB banking once approved by agency Finance.
  • Ensure that all management complies with payroll policies and procedures about authorizations, changes to pay, engagements, terminations, etc.
  • Meet payroll deadlines.
  • Maintain complete employee records.
  • Process payroll on time and ensure accurate cost allocations.
  • Monthly reports, journals, and statutory returns such as Payroll Tax, IRP 5, Year-end reporting, etc.
  • General inquiries and inquiry resolution.
  • Ensure all audit and control environments are fully effective and adequate to ensure risk aversion in payroll.
  • Identify efficiencies, improvements, enhancements, and opportunities to improve cost and process efficiencies within the payroll function.
Knowledge:
  • Sage 300 People and ESS.
  • ERP systems Navision.
  • Basic Conditions of Employment SA.
  • South African Tax knowledge.
  • SA Labor laws.
Skills (including technology):
  • SAGE 300 and ESS (Data and report writing, configuration).
  • Understanding of payroll legislation and process.
  • ERP systems.

Requirements:

Experience/Qualifications/Certifications

  • 10 years of payroll experience.
  • Immediate recent hands-on payroll processing, oversight, and controlling.
  • Expert level Sage competency.
  • A deep and clear understanding of the full end-to-end payroll cycle.
  • Be a strong manager being able to facilitate effectively with offshored teams.
  • Degree, Certificate, or advanced diploma in Payroll/Accounting.
  • Must be able to work later than normal office hours at peak times.
