The incumbent will be responsible for leading the Hospital maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service on all equipment and facilities infrastructure. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Management of staff, budget and projects. Understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality guidelines, procedures and responsibilities. Thorough knowledge of the techniques, procedures and processes used for the efficient operation of building services and good knowledge of construction practices. Good knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision. Ability to establish effective working relationships with professional, technical, management and clerical staff. Ability to prepare evaluation reports. Ability to meet emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and relevant database software in performing work assignments. Good judgment; initiative, resourcefulness, integrity, reliability, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Ability to prioritise and have strong attention to detail. Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making. Commercially aware. A Mechanical / Electrical Trade Test Qualification or equivalent recognised qualification (NQF Level 4) • Must have Industrial refrigeration and Airconditioning qualification. • Management course/ certification advantageous. • Relevant technical and supervisory experience in a hospital building industry. • Wireman's Licence • Code 8 Drivers licence
