Location: Durbanville, Western Cape or Centurion, Gauteng Description: A solution-orientated engineering company requires a Senior Vehicle Architecture Engineer to join their dynamic Engineering team, responsible for leading the design, integration, and testing of advanced powertrain systems, including electrically driven vehicles. Key duties include: • Lead Advanced Powertrain Projects: Oversee and technically direct all advanced powertrain projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements; Develop and oversee vehicle architecture and infrastructure requirements for advanced powertrain systems; Lead supplier identification, evaluations, and selections to ensure high-quality component integration; Develop and execute test and validation specifications; Develop and execute test and validation specifications, achieving a 100% project deliverables completion rate on time and within scope. • Team Management and Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists; Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. • Drive Innovation and Strategy for Alternative Drive Solutions: Participate in strategy development for customers interested in alternative drive solutions; Develop requirements specifications for alternative drive vehicles by engaging appropriate resources and stakeholders. • Enhance Business Development and Team Capabilities: Support management in business development activities • Ensure Legal and Safety Compliance: Stay informed about local and international labour laws and safety standards, ensuring 100% compliance in all operations; Develop vehicle specifications based on component selections that meet safety standards, achieving ISO26262 safety levels up to ASIL D • Optimize Financial Performance and Efficiency: Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and implement strategies to optimize revenue and reduce costs Key Requirements: BEng. or MEng. in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering (Master's is a plus); 10 years of relevant engineering development experience; Strong technical expertise in automotive engineering principles, processes, and industry standards; South African citizenship. Additional Requirements: Attention to detail; Willingness to travel overseas for variable periods; Excellent task management; Good written and verbal communication in English; Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in leading and managing engineering teams; Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
