Our Durban based client is a national treasure that is looking for the skills of an experienced Technical Manager. This role requires a senior person who is able to lead, mentor and guide the entire technical operations of uShaka Marine World's Sea World's Life Support Systems, (LSS) equipment and plant. The position requires a leader who is able to oversee the technical running of the environment, but also show management and EQ integrity. This position is suited to an individual with a Factory/Plant/Engineering management background. • To manage the entire technical operations of uShaka Marine World's Sea World's Life Support Systems, (LSS) equipment and plant. • To manage the entire maintenance function of uShaka Marine World's Sea World's Life Support Systems, (LSS) equipment and plant. • To plan, initiate, implement and manage the physical, human, and financial resources to achieve SAAMBR's technical goals and objectives, including the Technical Departmental goals and objectives. • To ensure all Technical Key Performance Indicators, (KPIs) are met, and all agreed upon projects and maintenance tasks are executed within agreed upon time frames, and within allocated budget. • To ensure the safety of all technical staff and contractors performing work on uShaka Marine World's Sea World's LSS, infrastructure, and buildings. • To ensure the maximum availability and reliability of all LSS plant and equipment, by performing timely planned maintenance, and resolving any breakdowns immediately, as and when they occur. • To ensure that all maintenance work is performed safely, according to all relevant safety legislation, SAAMBR's Standard Operating Procedures, and Best Engineering Practices. • To manage the entire Technical team, including staff competency training, staff discipline, and compliance to all South African labour law, including SAAMBR's HR Policy Manual, and HR procedures Must have above average knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Demonstrable, practical experience of implementing and managing a plant or factory safety system, including incident investigation, risk assessment, and OHS Act legal compliance. • Advanced computer literacy in the MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, is essential. • Experience in managing maintenance budgets, including forecasting, and expenditure control, is essential. • Min 10 years of demonstratable, hands-on, plant management experience. (Ideally water treatment plant, chemical process plant, or other heavy industrial plant management experience • Tertiary qualification, such as a National Diploma or Degree in any engineering field, or equivalent. • An official trade test, in either the mechanical or electrical engineering fields, will be an additional advantage. • A managerial qualification will be a distinct additional advantage. • Good knowledge and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment, as well as control systems is required. • Market related plus benefits Apply Now
