Debtors Administrator - Johannesburg

Our client, a leading international luxury destinations group are seeking a meticulous and proactive Debtors Administrator to join their finance team, based in Johannesburg. This role is crucial in managing their international debtors portfolio, requiring strong attention to detail and expertise in foreign exchange (forex) transactions. As a Debtors Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health of our organization through effective debt management and forex knowledge application.
Key Responsibilities:
    • Post receipts against outstanding invoices from debtors remittance advise using the following as control documents: Deposit slips, Bank statements, payment notifications
    • Process payments against debtors
    • Where there are no remittances, follow up deposits with consultants, banks etc. in order to complete all debtor postings.
    • Reconcile differences between payment amount and invoice amount notifying the consultants / Agent of any short/over payment or query.
    • Credit Control
      • Review the cash collection report as a working document.
      • Follow up with short paid invoices still due and overdue.
      • Obtain action plan to be taken to collect money timeously.
      • Review all long outstanding small debit balances or credit balances investigate nature of balance and propose a solution to clear with Supervisor.
      • Attend any debt collection review meetings.
      • Bring any abnormalities or trends in payment patterns to the attention of the Supervisor.
      • Review bank charges deducted from payments received and take corrective action with Supervisor.
      • Review credit card payments made, credit card charges and ROE used for conversions
      • Follow up on payments due.
      • Report preparation including explanations of overdue amounts
      Requirements:
      • Proven experience as a Debtors Administrator or similar role, preferably in an international setting.
      • Proficiency in foreign exchange (forex) transactions and their impact on financial reporting.
      • Bookkeeping experience at the level of posting cashbooks, creating invoices and credit notes and creating and posting journal entries
      • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
      • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
      • Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
      • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
      • Matric with Accounting as a subject
      • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
