Head of Operations Location: South Africa (with travel to East African countries as required) Overview: The Head of Operations will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the operational aspects of our company's expansion into the East African region, including both online and retail sports betting operations. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations across multiple countries and physical store locations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operations management, preferably in the online betting or gaming industry, and a strong understanding of retail operations. Responsibilities: Develop and implement operational strategies to support the company's expansion into the East African market, including both online and retail sports betting operations. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's activities in the region, including online platforms, physical store locations, customer support, and payment processing. Work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget management for both online and retail operations in the region. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, business partners, and retail landlords. Manage the setup and ongoing management of physical store locations, including lease negotiations, store design, staffing, and inventory management. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance across all operational activities, both online and offline. Coordinate with other departments, such as marketing and IT, to ensure alignment and collaboration in achieving business objectives for both online and retail channels. Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics for both online and retail operations to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure that all operational activities, both online and offline, adhere to relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards. Provide leadership and direction to the operations team, including retail managers and online operations staff, to ensure high performance and productivity. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. At least 7-10 years of experience in operations management, with a proven track record of success in a similar role, preferably in the online betting or gaming industry with experience in retail management. In-depth knowledge of East African regulatory requirements and industry best practices for both online and retail sports betting operations. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team across multiple locations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels. Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Willingness to travel frequently within the East African region as required. Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages spoken in the region (e.g., Swahili) would be advantageous. R90 000pm GROSS Apply Now
