Unique Personnel boasts over 50 years (established in 1970) of personnel and staffing experience, so it's not surprising that even though our main focus has been providing on South African Staffing Solutions, we now recruit internationally for over 5000 clients Primary Purpose of Job: Managing Finishing department Job Description: Manage Finishing production, quality and finishing department employees Roles and Responsibilities Responsibilities towards Finishing department employees Manage daily staff time & attendance, staff requirements and issues and ensure that employees comply with company policy and procedures. Maintain good discipline and working relations. Refer issues to HR where necessary. Submit all relevant documentation from employees to HR. (Leave applications, sick note's, grievances, disciplinary documentation etc.) Ensure that all employees always follow correct working procedures and comply with all applicable health and safety regulations. (Ensure all employees are aware of correct working procedures and H&S regulations) Ensure and assist employees in reaching their production requirements in the most effective way daily. Constantly evaluate employee work performance and provide training where required Facilitate and oversee all inhouse training that is finishing and QC related Weekly toolbox talk in cooperation with SHE reps Production / Operational Manage stock levels on daily consumables Manage daily finishing & QC production & ensure that production targets are met at required quality standard. Manage receiving of Jobs from welding dept in accordance with job cards and company production system. Ensure that jobs are received complete without any shortages and as per spec specified on job card, order form and attributes as per company system. Update internal production software (company system) with received jobs and file all supportive documentation. Prioritize jobs for finishing, qc inspection, sandblasting and powder coating according to due date. Check daily for stock units converted to customer orders and process accordingly. Constantly monitor finishing & quality processes for improvement and conformance to current standards. Assists QC's with NCR documentation and drive the process to get NCR's closed within 24H. Liaise with both welding and powder coating departments re NCR's and quality issues. Manage dispatching of jobs to powder coating, stock and from stock to powder coating. Liaise with sales department re jobs past their due dates and discrepancies between order documentation and Rhino system. Ensure all finishers and QC's meet their production targets daily Ensure all job cards and production documentation are completed daily and internal production system is updated. Oversee and manage all finishing and quality on prototypes. Developed & record finishing and quality procedures for all prototypes and report difficulties and discrepancies to senior management. Constant improvement on existing processes Daily and monthly reporting on production to top management. Monthly stock takes of all WIP and ready for powder coating stock. Tools & Machinery Keep and maintain tool and machinery register. Ensure all employees are issued with the correct tools and machinery in good working condition to perform their relevant tasks. Ensure that tools and machinery are maintained in perfect working condition. Arrange & coordinate any repairs, warranty claims or new acquisitions of tools & machinery Report any misuse, abuse, or accidental damage. General Develop and continuously improve SOP's where possible Develop & implement finishing & quality procedures for new products Assist with implementation and maintaining of quality management system General housekeeping in finishing department Stock control of canopy kits, finishing consumables and ppe. Submit stock requirements re finishing consumables to buyer timeously Perform tasks as requested from time to time by senior management or direct superior Qualifications and Education Requirements 5 years' experience in. A sheet metal production manufacturing environment (or similar). Basic computer skills (Microsoft Windows and Office) Good working knowledge of welding, steel fabrication / vehicle body building / related sheet metal fabrication 2 years' experience in midlevel management position 2 years quality assurance experience (ISO or equivalent)
