Manufacturing Production Manager - Johannesburg

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• The most critical area revolves around performance, lean, quality and efficiency.
• Ensuring efficient planning and production output in all production areas.
• Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and those in the business premises as OHS 16.2 appointee.
• Ensuring that Quality is kept to Standards ( ISO 9001:2000)
• Management of own budget and Control of expenditure. (Standard manufacture cost.
• Ensuring a harmonious work environment and conducive employment relations.
• Manage Security needs in conjunction with other management.
• Drive continuous improvement projects in the production processes.
• Ensure effective management of resources including people and machinery.

KEY ACTIVITIES OF THE ROLE:

Production and processes and resources

• Monitor the production records for efficienc
• Daily production performance monitoring and analysis
• Management of resources (time, materials, tools and people)
• Monitor the works cumulative load hours
• Production meetings with the relevant employees every week.
• Liaise with Maintenance Manager to ensure speedy resolution of plant downtime incidences and form part of solutions.
• Calculation of production bonus for foremen and setters
• Assist with the production and process Planning.
• Monitor of idle time analysis and implement improvement solutions
• Monitor of scrap Quantities and do scrap analysis to effect improvement solutions
• Monitoring and managing work in-progress (WIP) and preparing a monthly report.
• Form part of the Management team and attendance to meeting to report and engage on production and process avtivities.
• Lead and provide guidance in periodic production foremen and supervisors meetings
• Liaise with Suppliers to ensure accurate delivery and communicate defective products.
• Liaise with Maintenance Manager to ensure speedily resolutions.
• Liaise with Quality Manager to ensure acceptable and required quality standards are met throughout the production value chain.
• Liaise with the Sales Manager to ensure alignment of business priorities on sales and customer requirements.
• Liaise with HR Manager to ensure effective support, wellbeing and development of employees.
• Liaise with Stores Store Manager to ensure alignment of material receipt for planning purposes as well as delivery timelines.
• Form part of the Employment Equity and Skills Development structures as a management representative.

Occupational Health and Safety

• Assist in ensuring compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Assists ensure good occupational health, safety and wellbeing of employees.
• Coordinate and chair health and safety meetings as per annual calendar
• Monitor safety and housekeeping Audits every month
• Assist with accident investigation
• Assisting in compiling safe work instructions
• Comply with and Lead ISO 9001 2015

Quality

• Assisting production foremen Quality Standards.
• Leading Quality discussions with all departmental Foremen.
• Attending Quality Assurance Meetings.
• Preparing quality reports and submission to the CEO or relevant people
• Continuous quality improvement projects.

Academic and Knowledge Requirements

Minimum Bachelors Degree in Production Management or Production Technology or production Processes or Mechanical Engineering.

At least 15 years in a Manufacturing environment, with at least 10 years managing or leading production.

Knowledge in an engineering manufacturing environment (Production Process Flow)

Knowledge of the latest ISO 9001 standards.

Basic Knowledge of Technical drawings, tooling jig and fixtures.
