ACTOM AND LESEDI POWER SERVICES (PTY) LTD is an equal opportunity company, promoting affirmative action, has vacancies for: WATER TREATMENT & ASH HANDLING OPERATOR X 4 Ngodwana 5 YEAR CONTRACT A vacancy exists in the Operational Department at our Ngodwana Site for a Water Treatment & Ash Handling Operator reporting to the Shift Leader. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Control the performance of demineralized water treatment facility. Control the performance of chemical dosage units. Control the performance of cooling water treatment. Ensure all water, and steam blowdown quantities and chemical requirements are met and keep record thereof. Keep updated guidelines and procedures. Read, understand and interpret information and work in a compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation. Liaisons with Laboratory Technician on chemical treatment regimens and chemical consumables, stock levels and re-ordering levels. Ensure cost-effective usage of water and chemicals. Monitor and control of coarse ash bin levels and fly ash silo levels and timeous notification to the client for regular removal thereof. Ensure safe removal of ash and ensure all environmental protocols are observed. Closely monitor water levels and ensure water chemistry is within the specifications. Ensure periodic inspection of the water and ash systems and immediately report any defects. Ensure operational checks are recorded and immediately report any deviations. Comply with industry health, safety and environmental working practices and regulations. Perform required technical training to enhance own professional skills. Ensure general plant housekeeping is performed. Perform support function to the Shift Leader and Laboratory Technician. QUALIFICATIONS Grade 12 Senior Certificate, N3 or a relevant NQF4 qualification. EXPERIENCE At least 2 years' experience in a power plant water treatment system or similar water treat plant environment, RO or desalination plant. Working knowledge of Lab and Chemical injection systems. Working knowledge of power plant or other industrial facility's fundamentals and how industrial plant equipment relates to each system. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Knowledgeable of industry safety procedures and protocols. Good communication skills. Market Related
