Our client, an engineering company offering design and heavy manufacturing services to the mining industry, is looking for an experienced Production / Workshop Manager with a solid background and experience in a similar environment. The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in leading teams and producing heavy fabricated products for the mining industry. This fast-paced, dynamic role requires a flexible, problem-solving individual who thinks outside the box to get things done. You will lead, plan, coordinate, communicate, anticipate problems, implement systems and procedures, manage anomalies, and deliver quality products built to specification and standards. This workshop comprises approximately 100 people, performing plate work and steel fabrication services as well as machining, maintenance and repair services. Key Responsibilities: Organize and manage production according to demand, ensuring all schedules support project requirements and customer breakdown work. Be responsible for on-time tracking and completion of jobs in the workshop. Work with the Engineering team daily to continually improve quality, safety, cost, and production, and obtain feedback/updates on individual project statuses. Make high-level decisions to avoid delays in production and project schedules. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and general workshop requirements to grow and expand current product lines. Read and work with engineering drawings. Maintain a safe working environment in line with current legislation. Complete quality control inspections, driving the QC team. Handle daily administrative tasks, including documentation and reports required for the project. A minimum of a Matric, with additional technical studies (e.g., Trade: Fitter & Turner, Boilermaker, or Mechanical Engineering). Proven experience in Production / Workshop / Project Management within a Heavy Manufacturing Environment (Job Shop) Excellent fabrication and welding skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Ability to read and work with engineering drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven problem-solving abilities. Ability to make high-level decisions under pressure.
